Camshafts & Valvetrain

Raylar has developed 10 camshaft profiles for the 496-8.1 engine after extensive dynamometer testing on various combinations of our aluminum CNC cylinder heads, intake manifolds, fuel settings and exhaust systems. Our camshafts feature special lifts, durations and ramp rates that take advantage of the lightened valve train of our aluminum "Big Power" CNC cylinder head.

All of our camshafts are designed to idle at or near stock idle RPMs with broader torque curves for strong power delivery under the curve - where you use it most. All of our camshafts are designed and manufactured in the USA with the finest billets and ground on state-of-the-art CNC cam grinding machines. Raylar cams will provide you with the power you want with years of trouble free performance for your 496 / 8.1L engine.

    Very high torque camshaft. Stock-like idle. Best for heavy towing emissions compliant Truck / RV use over 8000lbs. Safe for stock pistons. Powerband: Idle - 4200rpm

    High torque camshaft. Stock-like idle. Best for daily towing emissions compliant Truck / RV use under 8000lbs. Safe for stock pistons. Powerband: Idle - 4700rpm
  • BP-203 Street / Strip Camshaft
    Street / strip camshaft. Mild lope idle, excellent daily driver camshaft for Trucks and SUVs. Great power throughout power band. Best for towing applications under 8000lbs. Safe for stock pistons. Powerband: 1400rpm - 5200rpm
  • BP-205 Street / Strip High Lift Camshaft
    Street / strip camshaft. Mild lope idle, excellent daily driver camshaft for Trucks and SUVs. Great power throughout power band. Best for towing applications under 8000lbs. High lift, must use Raylar forged pistons. Powerband: 1400rpm - 5200rpm
  • BP-206 Max Effort Camshaft
    Max effort stock displacement camshaft. Choppy idle. 2500rpm stall recommended. High lift, must use Raylar forged pistons. Works very well with our stroker kits. Powerband: 2200rpm - 5800rpm
  • BP-213 Race Camshaft
    Extreme / race camshaft. Very choppy idle. 3000rpm stall recommended. High lift, must use Raylar forged pistons and water-cooled dry exhaust in boat applications. Great for all-out stroker applications! Powerband: 2800rpm - 6400rpm

Roller Rocker & Camshaft Swap Kit - $969

Raylar's full-roller camshaft kit for iron cylinder heads reuses stock head studs and fits under the stock valve covers. Includes your choice of four stock piston safe camshafts and 1.70 ratio stainless steel roller rockers.

Stainless Steel Roller Rockers - $489

Raylar's high strength stainless steel 1.70 ratio roller rocker kit. Fits under stock valve covers! These roller rockers reduce valve train friction and add 18 horsepower throughout power band. Comes with application specific adjustment nuts.

Camshafts for Stock Pistons

These cams are designed to deliver maximum power while still increasing the torque levels over the widest possible range.

The BP-201 camshaft is designed to make maximum torque for truck pulling competitions or very heavy towing applications over 8000lbs.
The BP-202 camshaft is designed for truck and workhorse RV use with emissions compliance, stock-like idle, fuel economy and peak towing power of primary importance.
Our BP-203 camshaft is designed to provide good horsepower and torque across the entire power band. The BP-203 produces exceptional power with our intake manifold and cylinder head combination while still providing adequate piston to valve clearance in engines equipped with factory stock pistons.

High Lift Camshafts

Our high lift series of camshafts require the use of our flycut forged pistons for added piston to valve clearance.

Our BP-205 camshaft is a high lift version of our BP-203 camshaft allowing you to make even more horsepower and torque across the entire power band with our aluminum cylinder heads.
Our BP-206 camshaft was patterned to make maximum horsepower from the 496cid engine with our cylinder heads and intake manifold.
The BP-213 is our extreme race camshaft for extreme performance in all-out 496, 511, 540 or 600+ cubic inch engines.

Supercharger Camshafts

We offer two different grinds of our popular supercharger camshafts.

The BP-111-S is designed for stock pistons and rotating assemblies while the BP-207-S which is a high lift version for our flycut forged pistons and forged h-beam connecting rods. Both are designed to maximize your engine’s power in supercharged applications.

Turbocharger Camshafts

We offer two different grinds of our popular turbocharger camshaft: our BP-212-T for stock pistons and rotating assemblies as well as our BP-208-T which is a high lift version for our flycut forged pistons and forged h-beam connecting rods. Both are designed to maximize your engine’s power in turbo applications.

Iron Cylinder Head Cam Swap Kit

Your stock valve springs will need to be replaced to run the BP-203 camshaft. Our iron head camshaft swap kit reuses stock head studs and fits under the stock valve covers. Includes your choice of four stock piston safe camshafts and 1.70 ratio stainless steel roller rockers. This kit is also a good option for those looking to improve the capabilities of the Dart iron cylinder head.
